La amarga verdad

Todo lo que siempre quisiste saber sobre TERZA (y nunca te atreviste a preguntar).

What is TERZA, really?

An Italian bitter from Alba, deep red, built on 21 botanicals. Orange peel and mandarin on the nose, cardo santo and marjoram at its heart, and a long, dry finish that stays with you. Pour it over ice, lengthen it with tonic, or make it one third of a Negroni.

Italian bitter or cocktail bitters: what’s the difference?

A shared name, two very different bottles. An Italian bitter is a red, bitter-sweet aperitivo you pour by the measure: over ice, with soda or as one third of a Negroni. Cocktail bitters are high-proof, concentrated drops you dash, like salt and pepper, to season a drink. TERZA is the first kind: an Italian red bitter at 24%, made to be poured, not dashed.

What does TERZA taste like?

Bright, herbal, bitter. Bitter orange peel and a hint of mandarin open it up, gentian root and marjoram carry the herbal heart, and a confident bite leads to a clean, dry finish.

Where is TERZA made?

In small batches just outside Alba, in the heart of Piedmont: the Langhe hills, home of Barolo and the white truffle. All the right roots, zero nostalgia: TERZA is tradition flipped on its head.

How strong is TERZA?

TERZA is 24% ABV, in a 70 cl bottle: about half the strength of gin, vodka or whisky. Served long, in an Americano or a TERZA & Soda, your drink is around 6–8%, like an IPA and lighter than a glass of wine.

Can I drink TERZA on its own?

You can, and we recommend it: well chilled, over ice with a slice of orange, is our go-to. Feeling braver? Take it into a cocktail.

Can I use TERZA instead of Campari in a Negroni?

Yes, and you won’t look back. Swap it in one for one: equal parts gin, red vermouth and TERZA, stirred over ice, with an orange slice to finish. Expect bright citrus and real herbal depth. It works in an Americano or a Boulevardier too.

Is TERZA very bitter?

Enough to matter, and not a bit more. Gentian and wormwood bring the bite, orange peel and herbs round it out, and it finishes dry, as it should. New to it? Start with a long, cool drink: TERZA and tonic over ice.

Why the name TERZA?

It’s Italian for “third”, a nod to the cocktail built in three equal parts and to the part we care about most.

How should I store TERZA?

Just like any other spirit at home: upright, cap on, away from heat and direct sunlight. No fridge needed, though we do like it served chilled.

Is TERZA vegan and gluten-free?

Yes. TERZA is vegan and gluten-free, so everyone at the table can enjoy it. Responsibly, of course.

Is TERZA related to 9diDANTE?

Separate brands, separate recipes, from the same corner of Piedmont. They do meet in the glass: our house Negroni pairs TERZA with 9diDANTE Inferno.
