This policy follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP) and, for visitors in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
| What | Data | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newsletter sign-up | First name, surname, country, email address | To send you news, recipes, launches and events. Country lets us send content that fits your market and its rules on alcohol communication. | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given when you sign up. We then send you a welcome email confirming your subscription; if you did not sign up, or have changed your mind, one click on its unsubscribe link removes you. We keep a record of when and how you signed up. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email. |
| Emails to hello@bitterterza.com | Your name, email address and whatever you write to us | To answer you and follow up | Our legitimate interest in replying, or steps you ask for before an agreement (Art. 6(1)(f) or (b)) |
| Visiting the site | Technical data such as IP address, browser, device, pages requested and time of visit | To deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors | Our legitimate interest in a working, secure site (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Age confirmation | Your yes/no age answer (stored in your browser for 90 days from your last visit) and your analytics choice (stored for 24 months) | To show the site only to people of legal drinking age, and to remember your choice so we do not ask on every visit | Our legitimate interest in responsible alcohol communication (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Location check for the age rule | Your IP address | To find the country you are visiting from, so the age gate applies that country's legal drinking age. Your IP address is sent to a small location service run on Cloudflare, used only for this check and not stored by us. | Our legitimate interest, and our responsibility, to keep alcohol content away from minors (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Website analytics (only if you agree) | Pages visited, how you reached the site, approximate location, device and browser type. Google Analytics 4 does not store your IP address. | To understand, in aggregated form, how the site is used and improve it | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given at the age gate. You can withdraw it at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer. |
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for automated decisions or profiling.
Website analytics: if you agree at the age gate, we use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC) to understand, in aggregated form, how visitors use the site. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses, and it runs only if you say yes. If you say no, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer. See our Cookie Policy.
This site and our newsletter are only for people of legal drinking age in their country, and at least 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete it.
We only share your data with service providers who process it for us, on our instructions and under a data processing agreement:
We may also share data with our professional advisers under confidentiality, or with authorities when the law requires it.
Some of our providers are based in, or store data in, the United States, and may also use data centres in EU/EEA countries. Transfers to the United States rely on the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and otherwise on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, which the Swiss data protection authority (FDPIC) also recognises. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.
You can ask us to:
Write to hello@bitterterza.com. We will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
You can also complain to a data protection authority:
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to protect your data. No method is perfect, but we act quickly if something goes wrong and inform you and the authorities where the law requires it.
We may update this policy, for example when we add new tools. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is important, we will tell newsletter subscribers.
